Community guidelines

Snaggboard is a marketplace for verified students meeting in person on campus. A few simple rules keep it that way. By posting a listing, you agree to follow these.

What you can't sell

These items are off-limits, whether they're against the law or against campus rules. Listings for them are removed, and repeat posts can lose you access.

  • Weapons & ammunitionFirearms, ammunition, and any weapon banned on campus. This includes replicas, airsoft, and tactical knives.
  • Drugs & paraphernaliaIllegal drugs, controlled substances, vapes, and anything used to consume them.
  • Alcohol & tobaccoAlcohol, tobacco, and nicotine products of any kind, even sealed or unopened.
  • Prescription & medical itemsPrescription medication, supplements sold as medicine, and used medical devices.
  • Stolen or counterfeit goodsAnything you don't own outright, plus fakes, replicas, or knock-offs sold as genuine.
  • Academic dishonestyEssays, completed assignments, exam answers, or any service meant to cheat coursework.
  • Recalled & hazardous itemsRecalled products, fireworks, chemicals, or anything unsafe to hand off in person.
  • Live animalsPets and animals of any kind aren't sold or rehomed here.
  • Adult content & servicesSexual content or services, adult products (such as sex toys), and anything you wouldn't post on a campus bulletin board.

Buying & selling well

The marketplace only works if people can trust it. Here's what we expect from everyone.

  • Be honestDescribe items accurately, use your own photos, and set a fair price. No bait-and-switch.
  • Meet safely on campusExchanges happen at the campus spot on the listing. It's fine to bring a friend.
  • Make the transaction in person, no shippingSnaggboard has no payments or shipping. Never send money before you have the item in hand.
  • Treat people with respectNo harassment, hate speech, or spam. Report anything that crosses the line.

Posting events

Events go on the board right away, for every student to see, so they need to be real and right.

  • Real events for studentsParties, meetings, game days, pop-ups, studies: things students can actually go to. No ads for outside businesses.
  • Keep it rightIf the date, time or place changes, edit it in My events. If it's off, cancel it so nobody turns up to nothing.
  • No home addresses on flyersFlyers are public. A private address goes in the address field, which only signed-in students see.
  • Nothing from the banned listNo events built around weapons, drugs, or anything illegal, and no drinking for anyone under 21.

See something off?

Every listing and event has a Report option. If something breaks these guidelines (a banned item, a scam, a fake event, or anything that feels wrong), flag it and we'll take a look.

  • Reports come to us privately. The seller or poster is never told who reported them.
  • When three different students report an event, it comes off the board until we've looked at it.
  • We review every report and may remove the listing or event, warn whoever posted it, or suspend or ban their account, depending on what happened and whether it's happened before.
  • We can't always share the outcome, but every report is read.
  • Snaggboard isn't an emergency service. If you're in danger, call 911 or campus police first.
