Terms of Service
Effective October 11, 2026
The short version
Snaggboard is a free bulletin board where students who verified their school email list items, post events, and find each other. It's open to currently enrolled students at the schools we support (right now, Jackson State University) who are at least 18.
We don't handle payments, shipping, or the items themselves. Every deal is between the buyer and the seller, so meet in public on campus and inspect before you pay.
Follow the community guidelines. We can remove listings and events and suspend or ban accounts that break them.
1. About these Terms
Snaggboard ("Snaggboard", "we", "us") runs snaggboard.com, an independent student project. We are not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by any school or university, including the schools whose students use Snaggboard.
These Terms, our Privacy Policy and our community guidelines apply whenever you use Snaggboard. By signing in, browsing, posting, or contacting anyone through Snaggboard, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
2. Who can use Snaggboard
- You must be a currently enrolled student at a school Snaggboard supports. Right now, that's Jackson State University.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must sign in with a school email address that belongs to you, and keep access to it private. One account per person. Don't share your account or use someone else's.
Anyone can browse the public board, but only signed-in students can post listings, see sellers' contact details, or report listings. If you stop meeting these requirements, you must stop using your account.
3. What Snaggboard is, and isn't
Snaggboard is a place for students to post items and events and find each other. It is not a store, an auctioneer, a payment service, a shipping service, or an event organizer.
- We don't own, inspect, hold, value, or guarantee any item.
- We don't process payments, hold money, or arrange delivery. Payment and handoff happen between you and the other student, in person.
- We aren't a party to any deal. Any agreement is solely between the buyer and the seller.
- We don't organize, host, check, or supervise any event on the events board, and aren't responsible for what happens at one. Whoever posted an event is responsible for it.
- We verify only that you can receive email at a school address. We don't verify anyone's identity, background, honesty, or the truth of any listing.
4. Your responsibilities
- Only list items that you own and have the right to sell.
- Describe items honestly, use your own photos, and keep your listing up to date (put it on hold, mark it snagged, or delete it).
- Only post real events that students can go to, keep their date, time, and place right (edit, skip a date, or cancel in My Events), and only use a flyer you have the right to share.
- Follow the law, your school's rules, and our community guidelines.
- You are responsible for everything you post, every deal you make, and how you treat the people you meet through Snaggboard.
5. What's not allowed
You may not list anything on the prohibited list in our community guidelines. That includes weapons, drugs, alcohol and tobacco, prescription items, stolen or counterfeit goods, academic dishonesty services, recalled or hazardous items, animals, and adult content, services, or products. You also may not:
- Scam, defraud, or mislead anyone, or run bait-and-switch listings.
- Harass, threaten, bully, or discriminate against anyone, or post hate speech.
- Post spam, duplicate listings, or ads for outside businesses.
- Impersonate anyone or create an account for someone else.
- Share someone else's personal information without their permission.
- Post an event that involves anything on the prohibited list, illegal activity, or drinking by anyone under 21, or put a home address or anyone's personal details on a flyer (a private address belongs in the event's address field, which only signed-in students see).
- Ask for payment before a meetup, or steer people to risky payment methods.
- Scrape, copy, or collect data from the site, use bots, or try to get around our security or access limits.
- Submit false or bad-faith reports.
- Use Snaggboard for anything illegal.
6. Meeting and staying safe
You decide whether and how to meet. For your safety, meet at the public campus spot on the listing, bring a friend if you like, inspect the item before paying, and never send money before you have the item in hand. If you ever feel unsafe, leave. In an emergency, call 911 or campus police.
We can't supervise meetups and aren't responsible for what other users do on or off the site. Report anyone who breaks these Terms.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of the listings, events, photos, flyers, and text you post. You give Snaggboard a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, resize, and compress that content, only so we can run and show the site. This license ends when you delete the content, except for copies we keep briefly in backups or need to keep for safety reasons (see our Privacy Policy). Copies that search engines or other people have already made are outside our control.
You promise that you have the right to post everything you post, including every photo and flyer.
8. Snaggboard's own content
Everything on Snaggboard that students didn't post belongs to Snaggboard or to the people who license it to us. That includes the Snaggboard name and logo, the raccoon mascot and all of its artwork, the site's design and layout, its text, and its code. Using the site doesn't give you ownership of any of it, or any right to use it beyond browsing and using Snaggboard as these Terms allow.
Unless we give you written permission, you may not:
- copy, reproduce, or closely imitate the site's design, artwork, text, or code;
- use the Snaggboard name, logo, or raccoon in a way that suggests we made, endorse, or are connected to something we aren't;
- scrape, crawl, or bulk-download listings or any other content, by bot, script, or by hand, including to build a database, a competing service, or to train AI models;
- frame or mirror the site, or present it as part of another site or app.
Some parts of the site, such as our fonts and some styling code, come from others under open licenses. This section doesn't limit any rights those licenses give you; for those parts, their own licenses apply.
Sharing a link to a listing or page is always fine, and search engines may index our public pages as our robots.txt allows.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely, without owing you anything.
9. Reports, moderation, and enforcement
Every listing and event can be reported. Reports come to us privately, and the seller or poster is never told who reported them. When three different students report an event, it comes off the board until we've reviewed it. One account can have up to 5 events on the board at once and post up to 3 a day. We review reports and may, at our discretion and with or without notice:
- remove or edit any listing, event, or other content;
- warn you;
- suspend your account for a period; or
- permanently ban your account.
We aren't required to monitor the site or to act on any report, and we aren't responsible for content we haven't removed. If we ban your account, you may not create a new one. We may also report illegal activity to campus police or other authorities.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using Snaggboard at any time, delete your listings whenever you like, and ask us to delete your account by emailing snaggboardhq@gmail.com from your school address. We may also suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, or if we need to in order to protect other students or the site.
11. No warranties
Snaggboard is a free service provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises of any kind, express or implied: not about items, users, listings, meetups, or the site being available, secure, or free of errors. We may change, pause, or shut down any part of the site at any time.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Snaggboard and the people who run it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost money, property, data, or opportunities. This includes anything arising from items, deals, meetups, or other users' conduct, or from your use of, or inability to use, the site.
In any case, our total liability for any claim relating to Snaggboard will not exceed fifty U.S. dollars ($50). Some places don't allow certain limits, so some of this may not apply to you.
13. Your responsibility for claims
If someone brings a claim against Snaggboard or the people who run it because of your listings, your deals, your conduct, or your breaking these Terms or the law, you agree to cover the resulting costs, including reasonable legal fees, to the extent the law allows.
14. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Snaggboard infringes your copyright (for example, someone used your photo), email snaggboardhq@gmail.com with:
- the listing link;
- what work you own;
- your contact details; and
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized, and that your notice is accurate.
We'll remove infringing content, and we ban repeat infringers.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Snaggboard grows. When we do, we'll change the effective date above, and for significant changes we'll give notice on the site. Continuing to use Snaggboard after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Mississippi. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Hinds County, Mississippi, unless the law requires otherwise. If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it.
